Where in the World...?

Wondering where I'm staying right now? Half the time, I barely even know where I'm at. I've added the list below so you can see more about my upcoming, current and past accommodations.

Current location:

Falkland, Scotland
Dates: June 26 - July 11

I'm running from the summer heat as I continue to make my way north. After three weeks in the Lake District I'll be heading north of Edinburgh to a small town on the East side of Scotland. Another coworker to see and some time exploring the highlands will be in my future.

Next up

Car Camping - Location TBD
Dates: July 11 - July 17

As my UK travel begins to wrap up I thought I would take a week off of work for some car camping and traveling around Scotland and the Northeast side of England. I'll find places to stay as I go slowly south.

Mallorca
Dates: July 16 - July 26

I'm taking a bit of a risk and trying to escape the British Isles, even briefly, to work and meet my boss in person for the first time. As of the time of booking, I won't need to quarantine after a trip to the Balearic Islands, but that could change so I'm holding out hope that it stays this way for at least the month of July.

London, Queen's Park
Dates: July 27 - Sept 3

I've arranged to house sit for a friend of a friend in August. I'll be back in London and it will be a perfect base to start to look for my own flat to live in. I head home in the beginning of September so I'll be a woman on a mission to find something before I leave.

Previous Stays

London
Dates: April 5 - May 8

My first stop, which included a quarantine period for Covid protocols, was on the Northwest side of London near Gladstone Park just northwest of Cricklewood. The small apartment has it's own entrance, a loft space for the bed, and a little kitchenette. I chose it because after living in downtown Chicago, I thought it would be a nice contrast to city living. I wasn't wrong, very close to a large park and about a 20-minute walk to the Jubilee line meant easy access to downtown London and my office.

Cornwall, Southwest Coast of England
Dates: May 8 - May 29

Still unseasonably cold, I thought the next stop should be to the south. Not a huge change in weather, in fact a lot windier, but gorgeous just the same. And I loved staying in a little caravan in a caravan park by the sea.

Matlock, Derbyshire
Dates: May 29 - June 1

And then back to the north I went! One of the happiest stops was a stay with a family friend and her family, whom I haven't seen since I was about six years old. I can't say how grateful I am for her support and the kindness as I've gotten my feet underneath me here in England. She is on the edge of the Peak District so a different landscape from the one I had for the last three weeks. Only a short three night stay, I'm sure I'll be making more stops there again in the future.

Wilmslow, a suburb of Manchester
Dates: June 1 - June 5

Before heading even farther north, I took a few nights to get myself situated again - replenish groceries, catch up on laundry and of course work. And even better, I was able to see two of my coworkers in the area.

Backbarrow, Lake Country (Cumbria)

Dates: June 5 - June 26

I'm in the Lake District for my next long stay of three weeks. Another coastline, mountains and lakes, I expect to spend more time outdoors hiking, exploring and photographing the beauty of England.
